Mindful Mark-Making and Drawing

Mindfulness is an essential tool for creative practice. When we are present in the moment, we feel calmer and we are more open to receiving inspiration that can feed our creativity. When we are practising mindful mark-making it is the coordination between the hand, the breath and the present moment that that is our focus.

In these workshops, we repeat movements of the hand in conjunction with the breath in a sort of meditative repetition; my favourite techniques for this are block printing and scribble drawing. It creates a focus so that we can rest our otherwise busy minds and get into a state of flow.

Scribble drawing is drawing without an intended image. This means the workshop is accessible to everyone whether they can draw or not. It’s about reacting to the present rather than creating a finished piece.

Upcoming Mindful movement and mark-making workshop

Dates to be confirmed. Please contact me if you would like to take part in workshop.

Liz encouraged us to explore ways of making art, explore our ideas in ways we had not done in the past and to challenge and expand our self-imposed limitations.
