A unique approach, suitable for all
THE JOY OF REPETITION
My roots as an artist are in textiles and printing. As a textile designer I am obsessed with pattern and repetition. I believe that repetition is a meditative practice, whether you are making a screen print, putting marks on a page, moving through vinyasa or simply breathing.
In my experience, repetitive making is a type meditative flow that calms the mind and provides an escape from the fast pace of life.
I have a unique approach to creative expression that’s suitable for everyone. I combine repetition through breath with the movement of the hand in artistic exercises, like scribble drawing and block printing.
Mindfulness is an essential part of these workshops and indeed any creative practice. When we are present in the moment, we feel calmer and are more open to receiving inspiration.
The result is not necessarily a work of art, but a sense of calm and wellbeing and an openness to creative inspiration.
SCREENPRINTING WORKSHOPS, PRINTBLOCK CALLAN
Two-day workshops, May 2024
The courses at PrintBlock Callan are designed for complete beginners, as a refresher or for those that want to deepen their knowledge and skill. We work in a studio with full screen printing equipment. Learn the basics with me, which will enable you to continue printing on your own at home. Screen printing is wonderful skill where that can even be done on your own kitchen table.
Create your own motifs, cut out in paper as well as contact paper and experiment with colour combinations and repeat layouts.
All equipment and materials provided, including: screens, inks, binders, pens, pencils and rulers. A starter pack of fabrics is provided, but students are encouraged to bring some of their own fabric or fabric items.
